I am very pleased to welcome you to the 23rd UDT Europe which returns to Hamburg for 2010.

As you are aware, Hamburg is known as Germany’s gateway to the world.

UDT is the platform for research and development and new innovative products and ideas to be discussed and debated over three days.

During recent years there have been significant changes to defence responsibilities and theatres of operation from our Navies. As defence budgets continue to be limited, it is essential to ensure that plans for new investment to take into account for resilience, security and effective surveillance and reconnaissance.

The conference programme for 2010 will reflect these changing trends and will examine maritime safety and security issues, the changing role of operations and the increased role of unmanned vehicles.

The call for papers will be open on Monday 5th October.
