CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Over the past 22 years the UDT Europe conference has been addressing the increased complexity and challenges of asymmetric threats in the undersea defence community. 2009 was no exception, with over 120 speakers from a multitude of nations, the conference examined the military requirements in the ever changing landscape of undersea maritime security and force protection.
The keynote presentations from France, Germany, USA, Italy and Belgium set the tone for the conference covering:
• ASW capabilities,
• Combat Systems
• Mine clearing and countermeasures
• Sonar sensing and tracking systems
• Unmanned underwater vehicles,
The conference certainly proved to be focal point for discussion and understanding technological capabilities within current cost and timing constraints. The exhibition provided delegates with a chance to see these systems in a real environment and further explore their potential.
